FROM ISREAL TODAY

Egyptian soldiers kill African woman on Israel border

Egyptian border guards on Tuesday shot dead an Eritrean woman on the Sinai Peninsula's border with Israel. Two other women and a young child who were with the murdered migrant were captured.

Egyptian forces this year alone have killed 19 Africans seeking asylum or work in Israel.

Hundreds of Africans try to reach Israel every year, and while Israel has taken many in, it insists that Egypt must do more to stem the flow of migrants through its territory.

However, the brutal tactics of the Egyptian border guards has been vehemently protested by some human rights groups. Oddly enough, there have been no UN Security Council meetings on the subject or official calls for a commission of inquiry.
