Subject: FW: Why did Bernie go to prison

Why did Bernie Madoff go to prison? To make it simple, he talked people into investing with him, but didn't invest their money. As time rolled on he simply took the money from the new investors to pay off the old ones. Finally there were too many old investors and not enough money from new investors coming in to keep the payments going.

Next thing you know Madoff is one of the most hated men in America and he is off to jail.

Some of you know this. But not enough of you. Madoff did to his investors what the government has been doing to us for over 70 years with Social Security. There is no meaningful difference between the two schemes, except that one was operated by a private individual who is now in jail, and the other is operated by politicians who enjoy perks, privileges and status in spite of their actions.

BERNIE MADOFF

SoCIAL SECURITY

Takes money from investors with the promise that the money will be invested and made available to them later.

Takes money from wage earners with the promise that the money will be invested in a "Trust Fund" (Lock Box) and made available later.

Instead of investing the money Madoff spends it on nice homes in the Hamptons and yachts.

Instead of depositing money in a Trust Fund the politicians transfer it to the General Revenue Fund and use it for general spending and vote buying.

When the time comes to pay the investors back Madoff simply uses some of the new funds from newer investors to pay back the older investors.

When benefits for older investors become due the politicians pay them with money taken from younger and newer wage earners to pay their elders.

When Madoff's scheme is discovered all hell breaks loose. New investors won't give him any more cash.

When Social Security runs out of money the politicians try to force the taxpayers to send them some more; or they will cancel S/S to those who paid into it.

Bernie Madoff is in jail.

Politicians remain in Washington .. with fat medical and retirement benefits.

Here's a response in a letter from an unknown fellow in Montana ... I think he is a little ticked off ! He also tells it like it is !

Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight...

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY

YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15

years old. I am now 63).

3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other

Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for

decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give

OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus

bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme

that would have made Bernie Madoff proud.

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the

proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing

retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to

age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the

goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why?

Because you incompetent === spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "===t" on your incompetence. Well, Captain ===-, I have a few questions for
YOU.
1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?
2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?
3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?
4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and health care benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?
It is you, Captain ===, and your political co-conspirators who are "greedy". It is you and they who have bankrupted America and stolen the
American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what? Votes. That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.
And you can take that to the bank,
Note - cuss words removed. 12/17/11.  I'm sorry I over looked them. a reader brought it to my attention. Thank you, Joan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ministry of the new covenant
MINISTRY OF THE NEW COVENANT
2 Corinthians 3:2 - 6
2) You are our epistle written in our hearts, known & read by all men;
3) you are manifestly an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
4) And we have such trust through Christ toward God.
5) Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves but our sufficiency is from God,
6) who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
The New Covenant is ministration of the Spirit. As the Holy Spirit ministers grace & blessings in a divine power & life. We as ministers of the New Covenant we need to walk by the Holy Spirit. It has its glory & fruits; which is demonstrated in & of the Power & the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit of God we would bave sufficiency from God. We would be able to the the Words of God. We would be able to speak the words of God. That the Word of God be written in the heart & in their life. To walk in that privilege of grace & to be a minister of the Spirit!
We need to study the Word until we walk in the Spirit power & what God means for the ministry to be. To open up, to praying & laboring for God.
The Spirit has twofold work. One is giving holy disposition & character. Second is qualifying & enpowering people for work.
We should receive the promise of Christ that we should receive the HOLY SPIRIT our HELPER. The Holy Spirit is to be used in our services. Ministers should know what it is to be Led of the Spirit
Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin & death.
A ministry should know & experience a heavenly life & power. He should be a persoal witness & become the proof of the truth & power of God. All the work can be done by the power of the Spirit.
1 Peter 1:12
To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to *us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven -- things which angels desire to look into.
1 Corinthians 2: 3 & 4
3) I was with you in weakness, in fear, & in much trembling.
4) And my speech & my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, bur in demonstration of the Spirit & power.
We need to lead God's children to live in His word, His promises, & for Christians to fully experience it's power as the Spirit ministers. To feed God's children the truth. Whether with intercessory prayers, or private for counseling or even for teaching them. Daily receive & claim the total anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Our Heavenly Father wants All of His children to live in a continual fellowship with Him. To do so is in the Holy Spirit, through bible study, prayer, faith, love & obedience.
In the church today there is now weaknesses, formalities, worldliness, lack of any holiness, no personal devotions. The Holy Spirit is not known in our churchs today. He's looking from the outside, looking in. He wants to be there!
ALL of us should be living & enjoying the power of the Holy Spirit! IT IS OUR BIRTHRIGHT. Take it in.
Compare churchs with the Word of God. If they do not teach God's word, find one & see what you are missing.
1 Corinthians 2:5
that you faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10 - 12
10) But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit seaches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
11) For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely to us by God.
Read 1 Corinthians 3: 5 - 17; which the ministers are fellow workers with God.
Then read 3:18 - 4:5; that is whee Ministers are Accountable to God!
More writing on it in 2 Corinthians Chapter 3.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand, to teach you what can be done. What to do. Become Spirit lead.
That our hearts be one with God. To walk in the Spirit of God. To be contiually in prayer. To minister of the New Covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit of God!!
AMEN & AMEN
Fw: Wall Street Journal Sizes up Obama
Sizes up Obama
NO ARTICLE IS PERFECT BUT This IS AS CLOSE AS IT GETS---Wall Street Journal.
Wall Street Journal Sizes up Obama - They've Got Him Figured Out
A short article from the Wall Street Journal that needs to be read by every level headed American!!!
A "deadly" article regarding Obama, at the Wall Street Journal, which today is the most widely circulated newspaper in America .
Verify the following article at:
http://www.mypeoplesvoice.com/article-from-the-wall-street-journal-forum-by-eddie-sessions/comment-page-7/
Article from the Wall Street Journal - by Eddie Sessions:
"I have this theory about Barack Obama. I think he's led a kind of make-believe life in which money was provided and doors were opened because at some point early on somebody or some group took a look at this tall, good looking, half-white, half-black, young man with an exotic African/Muslim name and concluded he could be guided toward a life in politics where his facile speaking skills could even put him in the White House.
In a very real way, he has been a young man in a very big hurry. Who else do you know has written two memoirs before the age of 45? "Dreams of My Father" was published in 1995 when he was only 34 years old. The "Audacity of Hope" followed in 2006. If, indeed, he did write them himself. There are some who think that his mentor and friend, Bill Ayers, a man who calls himself a "communist with a small 'c'" was the real author.
His political skills consisted of rarely voting on anything that might be deemed controversial. He went from a legislator in the Illinois legislature to the Senator from that state because he had the good fortune of having Mayor Daley's formidable political machine at his disposal.
He was in the U.S. Senate so briefly that his bid for the presidency was either an act of astonishing self-confidence or part of some greater game plan that had been determined before he first stepped foot in the Capital. How, many must wonder, was he selected to be a 2004 keynote speaker at the Democrat convention that nominated John Kerry when virtually no one had ever even heard of him before?
He outmaneuvered Hillary Clinton in primaries. He took Iowa by storm. A charming young man, an anomaly in the state with a very small black population, he oozed "cool" in a place where agriculture was the antithesis of cool. He dazzled the locals. And he had an army of volunteers drawn to a charisma that hid any real substance.
And then he had the great good fortune of having the Republicans select one of the most inept candidates for the presidency since Bob Dole. And then John McCain did something crazy. He picked Sarah Palin, an unknown female governor from the very distant state of Alaska . It was a ticket that was reminiscent of 1984's Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro and they went down to defeat.
The mainstream political media fell in love with him. It was a schoolgirl crush with febrile commentators like Chris Mathews swooning then and now over the man. The venom directed against McCain and, in particular, Palin, was extraordinary.
Now, nearly a full year into his first term, all of those gilded years leading up to the White House have left him unprepared to be President. Left to his own instincts, he has a talent for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. It swiftly became a joke that he could not deliver even the briefest of statements without the ever-present Tele-Prompters.
Far worse, however, is his capacity to want to "wish away" some terrible realities, not the least of which is the Islamist intention to destroy America and enslave the West. Any student of history knows how swiftly Islam initially spread. It knocked on the doors of Europe, having gained a foothold in Spain .
The great crowds that greeted him at home or on his campaign "world tour" were no substitute for having even the slightest grasp of history and the reality of a world filled with really bad people with really bad intentions.
Oddly and perhaps even inevitably, his political experience, a cakewalk, has positioned him to destroy the Democrat Party's hold on power in Congress because in the end it was never about the Party. It was always about his communist ideology, learned at an early age from family, mentors, college professors, and extreme leftist friends and colleagues.
Obama is a man who could deliver a snap judgment about a Boston police officer who arrested an "obstreperous" Harvard professor-friend, but would warn Americans against "jumping to conclusions" about a mass murderer at Fort Hood who shouted "Allahu Akbar." The absurdity of that was lost on no one. He has since compounded this by calling the Christmas bomber "an isolated extremist" only to have to admit a day or two later that he was part of an al Qaeda plot.
He is a man who could strive to close down our detention facility at Guantanamo even though those released were known to have returned to the battlefield against America . He could even instruct his Attorney General to afford the perpetrator of 9/11 a civil trial when no one else would ever even consider such an obscenity. And he is a man who could wait three days before having anything to say about the perpetrator of yet another terrorist attack on Americans and then have to elaborate on his remarks the following day because his first statement was so lame.
The pattern repeats itself. He either blames any problem on the Bush administration or he naively seeks to wish away the truth.
Knock, knock. Anyone home? Anyone there? Barack Obama exists only as the sock puppet of his handlers, of the people who have maneuvered and manufactured this pathetic individual's life.
When anyone else would quickly and easily produce a birth certificate, this man has spent over a million dollars to deny access to his. Most other documents, the paper trail we all leave in our wake, have been sequestered from review. He has lived a make-believe life whose true facts remain hidden.
We laugh at the ventriloquist's dummy, but what do you do when the dummy is President of the United States of America?"
A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.
Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.
He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you." The young executives were Shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you.
I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one
I choose will be the next CEO."
One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed.He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.
Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.
Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still
nothing.
By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure.
Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however, he just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow.
A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.
Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at
the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful -- in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!
When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.
Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees and flowers you have grown," said the CEO. "Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!"
All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!"
When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.
The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, "Behold your next Chief Executive Officer!
His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed.
"How could he be the new CEO?" the others said.
Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.
All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new
Chief Executive Officer!"
* If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
* If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
* If you plant humility, you will reap greatness
* If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment
* If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
* If you plant hard work, you will reap success
* If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation
So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.
Think about this for a minute.... If I happened to show up on your door step crying, would you care?
If I called you and asked you to pick me up because something happened, would you come?
If I had one day left to live my life, would you be part of that last day?
If I needed a shoulder to cry on, would you give me yours?
This is a test to see who your real
friends are or if you are just someone to talk to you when they are bored
Do you know what the relationship is between your two eyes?
They blink together, they move together,
they cry together, they see things together, and they sleep together,
but they never see each other; ....that's what friendship is.. Your aspiration is your motivation, your motivation is your belief, your belief is your peace, your peace is your target, your target is heaven, and life is like hard core torture without it!
It's 'World Best Friends Week'
Who is your best friend?
Send this to all your good friends, even me, if I am one of them.
See how many you get back.
Israel has many concerns after Mubarak regime falls
Israel watched with muted concern over the weekend as former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned after 30 years in power and millions of Egyptians celebrated for days on the streets of Cairo, marking what they hope is the end of dictatorial rule in their country.
The region has seen this kind of thing before, and historically it has not turned out well. But Israel has more immediate worries as Egypt is concerned.
First, while the peace between Israel and Egypt under Mubarak was cold, it still served to balance Israel’s rivalry with Iran and mounting tensions with Turkey. As the situation stands now, there is no regional Arab superpower tipping the scales in Israel’s favor.
“Egypt has completely lost its status in the area, while Turkey and Iran are on the way up,” former Israeli Ambassador to Cairo Zvi Mazel told Israel’s Ynet news portal. “As long as we had Mubarak, there was no void in our relations with the region. Now we’re in big trouble.”
Mazel also cautioned Egyptians not to get too optimistic. They may have removed Mubarak and his martial law, but Egypt will now be directly ruled by the military until new elections can be held and a consensus government can be formed, which could take a year or more.
And when elections are finally held, there is no telling who will emerge as Egypt’s next president, and whether or not he will ultimately become a dictator.
At present, former International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) directory Mohammed ElBaradei is emerging as the leading opposition figure. But ElBaradei is aligned with the radical Muslim Brotherhood, which has vowed to return Egypt to a state of war with Israel if it ever came to power.
The Brotherhood has said it will not directly contest the presidency, but exercising influence over a puppet like ElBaradei would be enough to drastically and catastrophically alter the regional balance that existed prior.
On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the Egyptian military for announcing that it will continue to honor all of Egypt’s international agreements. But there is no guarantee that won’t change once a new president is elected, depending on which party he hails from.
It should be remembered that Mubarak’s former boss and predecessor, Anwar Sadat, was assassinated by the Muslim Brotherhood because he made peace with Israel.
There is also growing concern in Israel that amidst the chaos, Egypt will lose control of the Sinai Peninsula, which will become a new terrorist breeding ground. Already there are reports that Egyptian police forces are abandoning positions that are coming under attack by local Sinai Bedouins.
“There is real concern that if the Egyptians don’t get the Sinai back under their control, it could develop into a major threat to Israel,” a senior government source told The Jerusalem Post.
And then there is US President Barack Obama and his role in this regime change and its aftermath.
Throughout the two weeks of anti-government protests when Obama was joining with many Egyptians in demanding Mubarak’s immediate ouster, the US president consistently failed to insist that whoever takes over Egypt next must honor its peace treaty with Israel.
Other world leaders, such as Germany’s Angela Merkel, felt it was fitting to directly address the issue. “We also expect future Egyptian governments to pursue peace in the Middle East so that the contracts were signed with Israel, are respected and that Israel’s security is guaranteed,” read Merkel’s statement released on Saturday.
Obama’s much longer response to Mubarak’s downfall did not mention Israel or Egypt’s peace agreement with the Jewish state at all.
Israeli media analyst Dr. Aaron Lerner summed up why this is so disconcerting to Jerusalem:
“The very unfortunate message from Mr. Obama to the Egyptians in particular and the Arab world in general is that as far as he is concerned, Egypt honoring peace with Israel is at best of tertiary importance in his eyes.”
Jordanian anti-government protests focus on queen
Wednesday, February 09, 2011
Ryan Jones
Jordanians appear to want badly to join in the wave of revolutions currently sweeping the region, but as one of the more stable and free Arab societies they simply don’t have much to protest over. So they are focusing on their queen as a point of contention with the nation’s rulers.
Jordan has a population of about seven million people. Over 60 percent of those people are “Palestinian Arabs,” as is Queen Rania. The rest of the Jordanians are of Bedouin stock originating from what is now Saudi Arabia. These are the people of King Abdullah II.
The heads of the 36 Bedouin tribes that make up the backbone of Abdullah’s political support in the country are insisting that Queen Rania downgrade her political and public profile.
Queen Rania “is building power centers for her interest that go against what Jordanians and Hashemites [Jordanians of Bedouin descent] have agreed on in governing and is a danger to the nation and the structure of the state and the political structure and the institution of the throne,” read a statement issued by the tribal leaders.
The Bedouin sheikhs are unhappy that Rania is such a public figure, both at home and abroad, and want the king to nurture a more traditional society where such activities are not the place of women. They are also displeased with the amount of state funds Rania spends on her endeavors, while many Jordanians live in relative poverty.
The Bedouin leaders were careful to not directly challenge the rule of Abdullah, which they do not oppose, but warned that ignoring their petition “will throw us into what happened in Tunis and Egypt.”
Israeli media noted that the petition is very indicative of the mounting tension between the Palestinian and Bedouin halves of Jordan’s population.
Abdullah headed off another potential source of anti-government demonstrations last week when he dismissed the cabinet and appointed a new prime minister, Marouf Bakhit.
This week Bakhit and Abdullah offered government portfolios to various opposition groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan. The Islamic group declined the offer, and instead said it would push for early elections with the hope of achieving a Brotherhood-dominated parliament.
While the kind of violence Egypt is currently witnessing is unlikely in Jordan at present, there are clearly forces at work that want to overthrow that nation and help close an Islamist ring around Israel (Lebanon is already now under the control of Islamists in the form of Hizballah).
A Christian source in the southern Jordan port of Aqaba told Israel Today that the Jordanian “street” is getting restless. The source and her family felt a very distinct sense of insecurity for non-Muslims that those who oppose the Islamist agenda.
UN promotes female terrorists as role models
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) partnered recently with the Arab Producers Union for TV (APUTV) to produce and broadcast on 50 Middle East television stations a special campaign to advance women’s rights in the Arab world, according to the campaign’s website.
Dubbed the “White Hands Campaign,” it has been described by both the UNFPA and the APUTV as “the largest media campaign to support issues.”
The problem is that among the various women presented as role models in the White Hands television broadcast were terrorists and historical and current figures who advocate jihad.
Most of our readers will recognize the name Dalal Mughrabi. She is the female Palestinian terrorist who carried out the most deadly attack on Israeli civilians in the Jewish state’s modern history. In 1978, Mughrabi led a team of terrorists in an amphibious infiltration of the Israeli coast. They then hijacked bus full of Israeli civilians and killed all 37 of them.
The UN Population Fund felt it was appropriate to include Mughrabi as a role model for women across the Middle East.
Also included in the program was Al Khansa, a 7th century Arab poet who wrote joyously of the “martyrdom” of her four sons in battle against the enemies of Islam.
The White Hands website says these and the other women presented are “great models to be followed by the old or the young.”
Special thanks to Palestinian Media Watch for first bringing this issue to light.
Egypt's Western-assisted slide toward Islamic Revolution
Sunday, February 06, 2011
Ryan Jones
It seems 40+ years and a lifetime of diplomatic headaches have not been enough to teach the West its lesson when dealing with uprisings and democracy in the Middle East.
In 1979, Iranians rose up against the repressive but stable rule of the shah, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. America and Europe felt it was in the best interests of everyone involved to move the shah out of the way and throw open the doors to Western-style democracy. What they did was lay the groundwork for the Islamic Revolution and the rise to power of an even more repressive regime that now threatens the entire region.
And they are repeating the same mistake in Egypt.
When the demonstrations first began in Cairo on January 25, they were led by a large group of students with a list of specific demands. Having himself clearly learned the lesson of the shah’s overthrow, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak subsequently agreed to most of those demands, most importantly the demand that this be his last term in office and that he not establish a dictatorial dynasty with his son taking over next.
A Christian source in Cairo (whose name is being withheld for his own safety) says the uprising should have died down then and there.
“As we followed the unfolding of events including the announced change in government and president Mubarak’s speech, we wondered why the international news media is focusing only on the thousands in Tahrir Square who are escalating their demands and refusing dialogue,” said the source.
According to this man, something changed in the uprising after the first few days, after Mubarak had already agreed to most of the reforms demanded by the original protestors.
“What is happening now has nothing to do with this original protest. What is happening right now is a conspiracy to topple Mubarak from outside the country,” he said. That change coincided with the more visible participation in the uprising by the Muslim Brotherhood, a radical Islamic group with ties to extremists across the region.
But this Christian source suggested the situation is far more grave, and more methodical than just a handful of Brotherhood provocateurs entering the crowds.
“Only a few people (hundreds?) are still there from the original protesters,” he noted. “They have been slowly replaced by other highly organized groups that all carry the same model of cell phones and have the same blankets.”
There are even reports that these groups may not be Egyptians at all, with some eye witnesses saying they clearly do not speak Arabic with an Egyptian accent or in the local dialect.
“This is typical of the Muslim Brotherhood, and everybody on the streets of Cairo knows this. We heard people on the streets saying that the plot to take over the country is now clear,” revealed the source. “The escalation of violence…is because of this. Egyptians who love Egypt, the millions that took to the streets yesterday, want this to end.”
The West is afraid of the “Arab street” and is only being fed in that approach by the mainstream media. After all, violence and revolution make a much better story than compliance and smooth reform. In the meantime, average Egyptians like this Christian man and his family are ignored while the radical Islamists are given a global podium.
“Where are those, like myself, that want change and reform, but accept the changes that Mubarak is proposing, and want a peaceful transition through elections in September?” he wondered fruitlessly.
This man reported that over a million people had gathered last week in Cairo expressing acceptance of Mubarak’s proposed reforms and dialogue regarding the outstanding issues. And he said similar demonstrations had been held around the country. Over the weekend, the Mubarak government further complied with protestor demands when the old corrupt leaders of the president’s party all resigned.
“The cry of the people of Egypt is being totally ignored by the international news media,” he said, questioning, “Is this on purpose?”
If the Muslim Brotherhood does take over in Egypt (and it would do so by installing a sympathetic puppet like Mohammed ElBaradei), Israel would find itself direct neighbors with a new Islamic Republic that would dwarf the threat of Hizballah rule in Lebanon.
Israeli officials are furious at the way the US and Europe are handling the situation.
“I think the Americans still don’t realize the extent of the catastrophe into which they have pushed the Middle East,” Labor Party leader and former Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer told Army Radio.
Ben-Eliezer slammed the Obama White House’s inability to learn from the past:
“We learn from history. We remember what was said when Carter proposed that the Shah of Iran give up nicely and allow Khomeini to take his place. In Gaza, too, when the Americans came in, they supervised the democratic elections [via which Hamas came into power]. If there are elections in Egypt the way the Americans want, I will be surprised if the Muslim Brotherhood does not win. This will be a new Middle East - radical, Islamic and extremist.”
Likud lawmaker Ayoub Kara told visiting Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee that “it needs to be understood that if the Egyptian government will fall, the Muslim Brotherhood will take its place.” Kara said that Obama should also be learning from the mistakes in Iraq, where an American-style democracy has led to a “saturation of terror.”
A leading columnist for Israel’s largest daily newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, was even harsher, blasting Obama “selling Mubarak for a pot of lentils,” and “not understanding the Middle East.”
“Our conclusion in Israel needs to be that the man sitting in the White House is liable to ‘sell’ us over night,” concluded the columnist. “The thought that the US might not stand by our side in the day of need causes chills. God help us.”
Former Mossad chief Danny Yatom lamented that the Obama Administration had actually missed a golden opportunity. Yatom told Israel Radio that the situation was ripe for pressure on Mubarak to finally implement real reform, but the US should have worked with the Egyptian leader, not pushed him out of the way and opened the door to chaos. Now, said Yatom, Washington is going to get someone they can’t work with at all.
Christians slaughtered in southern Egypt
Sunday, February 06, 2011
Ryan Jones
Last week, just days after the demonstrations to reform or overthrow the Egyptian government got underway, Muslims in the south of the country took advantage of the general chaos to break into two homes belonging to local Coptic Christians and butcher every man, woman and child they could find.
The Muslim assailants massacred eleven people and seriously wounded four others. Two whole families were destroyed.
According to survivors of the attack who spoke to AINA, the Assyrian International News Agency, the attackers were aided by the Christians’ Muslim neighbors. Killed in the attack were a 15-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy and a little girl only three years old.
There is spreading fear that if Egypt falls into the hands of the radical Muslim Brotherhood, godfather of extremist groups across the region, the 10 million Coptic Christians in Egypt will face severe persecution, or worse.
There is already evidence that the Christians of Egypt are in for a very bumpy ride going forward. On Sunday, the Muslim Brotherhood-led opposition agreed to sit down and talk with newly-appointed Vice President Omar Suleiman. The Christians were not invited to the table, despite being part of the original demonstrations demanding reform.
Abortion in Israel on the decline
Monday, February 07, 2011
Ryan Jones
The number of legal abortions performed in Israel dropped by 19 percent in recent years, according to statistics published by the Health Ministry.
Since its rebirth as a nation state nearly 63 years ago, an average of 40,000 Israeli babies have been lost to abortion every year. That’s well over two million unborn children terminated. With numbers like those, it’s very clear that Israel has a major abortion problem.
It doesn’t help that legal abortions are so easily approved in Israel that they have become a standard form of birth control.
So, any drop in the rate of legal abortions is seen as almost a miracle, an unprecedented counter-trend that we can only pray continues.
Two organizations are working hard to make sure the numbers continue to fall.
The pro-life organization Efrat caters primarily to the Orthodox Jewish community, but has been reaching out to Israelis in all walks of life. Be’ad Chaim, a Messianic-run organization, typically reaches a broader cross-section of Israeli society with centers across the country.
Both Efrat and Be’ad Chaim are dedicated to educating young women in unexpected pregnancies on how to handle an unplanned child. Both organizations strongly believe that financial concerns are the number one reason behind abortions, and so they focus a lot of effort on providing financial support to needy pregnant women.
Education regarding the development of the unborn children is also a major point, as both Efrat and Be’ad Chaim are Bible-believing organizations that ultimately view abortion as murder of the unborn.
Senate voted against repealing Obamacare
Conservative Pressure Strong
Londa,
On Wednesday night, the Senate voted against repealing Obamacare along party lines. But something changed: in September, 40 Senators supported repeal, on Wednesday 47 Senators voted for repeal.
This is because of the work done by conservatives like you. When we found out the vote would happen on Tuesday morning, we sent out a quick email. Within 24 hours, more than ten thousand of you contacted your senators!
This is what can happen when conservatives stay engaged and get involved. Stay tuned to our activist website for to continue making a difference in Washington.
1 CORINTHIANS 13 - LOVE
We cannot serve God without us having Charity (Love). Without love we are nothing. So love is the key that will unlock our hearts.
John 13:35
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
John 15:13 & 14
13) "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friend.
14) "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
1 John 3:14, 16, & 18
14) We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love the brother abides in death.
16) By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
18) My little children let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed & in truth.
1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 8a
4) Love suffers long & is kind; love does not envy, love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5) does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6) does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7) for us. bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8) Love never fails.
God tells us to have love for one another. We should walk as the early church did in
1 Corinthians 13: We're supposed to do so.
Romans 12:9 &10
9) Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
10) Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving prefence to one another;
Love itself is more important then faith. Because without love we are nothing. As a Christian we
Have a responsibility to walk in love.
Now if a Christians connubially find fault with people it will do damage to their Spiritual life. Just walking out of love will cause that damage.
Christians should not be boastful or think more of them. Pride has never walked in love!!
We should exercise the Gift of Love. Because if we do not want to sound like a clanging cymbal. In other words not being empty & our words the same. If we do not walk in Gods love, we can never reach the lost, receive knowledge, understanding, or know the mysteries that God has.
Doing prophesy, speaking in tongues, both man tongues of angles, feed the children, help the poor, the widow. With out love what ever we do doesn't mean a thing!! You have to do those things with LOVE!
Love is & isn't
1 Corinthians 13 (these are not in order of the verses)
LOVE IS LONG-SUFFERING LOVE IS NOT EASILY PROVOKED
LOVE IS KIND LOVE DOESN'T ENVY
LOVE REJOICE IN TRUTH LOVE ISN'T BEING ARROGANT
LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS LOVE IS NEVER RUDE
LOVE BELIEVES ALL THINGS LOVE DOESN'T PROVOKED
LOVE HOPES ALL THINGS LOVE DOESN'T THINK EVIL
LOVE ENDURES ALL THINGS LOVE DOESN'T REJOICE IN SIN
LOVE NEVER FAILS
Love is the first of the Fruits of the Spirit! God loved you & me so very much that He sent His only begotten Son.
John 3:15 - 18
15) "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
16) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17) "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18) "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
LOVE HATES SIN!!
If we see sin in others we should never condemn them. We should never be fault finding. We should be like Jesus Christ & love them, pray for them, help them work through the sin so they can over come! LOVE them as Christ loved you & never condemn them!! Christ never condemned you. He gave His life for you. We should give our life for others in love. And you will right before God.
LOVE,
REV Londa
Does Jimmy Carter Deserve To Be Sued?
Mona Charen
Columnist's Archive Share Buzz 0diggsdigg
Sign-Up In a suit filed in federal court in New York, former president Jimmy Carter, along with his publisher, Simon & Schuster, is being sued by five readers of his 2006 book, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid." The suit alleges that the defendants violated New York's consumer protection laws by committing "deceptive acts in the conduct of business, trade, or commerce."
The plaintiffs, who hope to be considered a class, were "members of the reading public who thought they could trust a former president of the United States and a well-established book publisher to tell the truth..."
Does Carter deserve this trouble? Oh, yes, he deeply, richly deserves it. Should the suit prevail? More on that in a moment.
Carter has preened that "my role as a former president is probably superior to that of other presidents." Considering that he had four years as leader of the free world, the post-presidency claim sounds more like a bleat than a boast. And even still, it's false.
In fact, no former president including Richard Nixon has behaved as dishonorably as Carter. His post-presidency has been marked by truckling to America's enemies (North Korea, Syria, the PLO, Nicaragua) and actively impeding U.S. foreign policies of which he disapproved. Before the first Gulf War, for example, when President George H. W. Bush was attempting to assemble an international coalition to expel Saddam Hussein from Kuwait, Carter wrote a letter to the U.N. Security Council urging members not to cooperate with the U.S.
Carter's apologies for the United States make Obama's seem chauvinistic. Meeting with Haiti's dictator Raoul Cedras, Carter allowed as how he was "ashamed of what my country has done to your country." And explaining why other Americans took a skeptical view of Syria's Hafez al-Assad and North Korea's Kim II Sung, both of whom, he wrote, "have at times been misunderstood, ridiculed, and totally condemned by the American public," Carter surmises that this is in part because "their names are foreign, not Anglo-Saxon."
And then there is Carter's festering abhorrence of the Jewish state, which reached its fullest expression in "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid." The title expresses his sympathies and antipathies succinctly. It's a book about a land -- Israel -- that Carter would prefer become "Palestine." How else to interpret the latter part of the title -- "Peace Not Apartheid"? The leftist/Islamist slur against Israel is that it is a racist, apartheid state akin to South Africa and therefore lacking in legitimacy. Carter embraces this calumny.
And more. So much more. The book is a skein of falsehoods. Carter repeatedly gets history wrong -- as when he suggests that Israel attacked Jordan in the 1967 war. In fact, Israel pleaded with Jordan to remain neutral as it fought off Egypt and Syria. But Jordan elected to join the other Arab states in attempting to obliterate Israel. It lost Jerusalem and the West Bank as a consequence.
The former president surely knew, when he wrote this sentence, that it was completely untrue: "The unwavering official policy of the United States since Israel became a state has been that its borders must coincide with those prevailing from 1949-1967." In fact, no U.S. government, including Carter's, insisted on withdrawal to what Abba Eban called "Auschwitz borders."
Carter also repeatedly insinuates that U.N. Resolution 242 calls for such a withdrawal -- another lie. The resolution does speak of withdrawal, but was carefully crafted (against the objections of the Soviets) not to call for such a total pullout.
Carter writes that in the years since the Camp David accords, "The Israelis have never granted any appreciable autonomy to the Palestinians." Obviously, patently false. Concerning the 2000 Camp David/Taba negotiations, Carter suggests that both Israel and the Palestinian Authority rejected a compromise. But as former State Department chief negotiator Dennis Ross has countered, "Their (Israel's) government, meaning the cabinet, actually voted for it ... This is a matter of record, not a matter of interpretation." Carter's good friend Arafat walked away and started the second Intifada.
The former president's sloppiness -- or mendacity -- shows up on nearly every page of the book. He claims that an Arab document, the so-called "Prisoners Proposal," called for "a unity government with Hamas joining the PLO, the release of all political prisoners, acceptance of Israel as a neighbor within its legal borders... "
Or not. Here is Abdel Rahman Zeidan, a Palestinian minister, on the BBC: "You will not find one word in the document clearly stating the recognition of Israel as a state."
There's more. Carter's distaste not just for Israel but also for Jews is reflected in some of his anecdotes, as is his inexplicable attraction to autocrats and thugs in positions of power.
But a lawsuit is not the way to deal with this. The First Amendment trumps all. The courts cannot police books for accuracy -- not in America.
But the rest of us can.
FROM THE PATRIOT POST
Perhaps the Obama administration sees the handwriting on the wall for ObamaCare thanks to Judge Vinson, but that doesn't mean liberty-loving Americans shouldn't watch for end-runs around a patriotic judge who takes his oath seriously. Determined to make Americans eat in a more healthful manner, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack jointly announced earlier this week new federal nutritional guidelines emphasizing the importance of eating fruits and vegetables and cutting out sodium. Since the government has suggested we eat a certain way for years, it would seem to be nothing out of the ordinary.
However, a proposal on the table aroused interest -- subsidizing the purchase of fruits and vegetables for those millions of Americans now getting food assistance from the government. Based on a pilot program in Massachusetts, Vilsack explained, "The grocer basically gets paid full value for the fruit or vegetable that's being purchased but it's only credited, say, 70 or 80 percent on the card." In essence, for each dollar charged by the grocery store the recipient gets a discount on the amount deducted from the state-issued debit card.
Of course, given that small step it wouldn't be hard to foresee the opposite for foods deemed bad for you -- that Twinkie may be $1 in the store but $2 off the card. It's all because Beltway bureaucrats -- led by the smoker-in-chief, by the way -- believe they know best.
Administration Held in Contempt
U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman held the Obama administration in contempt Thursday for "determined disregard" in continuing its offshore drilling moratorium in spite of that moratorium being struck down in court. The administration enacted the ban in May after BP's Gulf spill in April. It was struck down in June, but the White House simply tweaked a few things and renewed the ban. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement is sitting on 103 permits.
"Each step the government took following the court's imposition of a preliminary injunction showcases its defiance," Feldman wrote. "Such dismissive conduct, viewed in tandem with the re-imposition of a second blanket and substantively identical moratorium, and in light of the national importance of this case, provide this court with clear and convincing evidence of the government's contempt." We're glad someone else has noticed.
Staggering Number of U.S. Homes Vacant
Since the housing market took us into the recession of 2008, will a recovery in housing demand spark a greater recovery in the economy as a whole? Don't count on it. As of this week, a staggering 11 percent of all homes in the United States are vacant. This statistic includes homes that have been foreclosed on as well as those few remaining homes built to be resold, a "spec home" in banker lingo.
Banks will sell a foreclosed property if possible, or lease it if necessary. But with an 11 percent vacancy rate, the probability is that homes are not being marketed due to lack of demand. With the decline in owner occupancy the demand for rental housing has increased, though that doesn't completely solve the problem. Lenders are holding many homes off the rental market, hoping that demand will recover with the lengthening of days and the greening of lawns.
Buyers are needed to initiate a recovery. Given the experiences of the current crop of homeowners, potential first-time buyers are saying "no thanks." They don't see a benefit to taking on debt to acquire a fixed asset that could decline in value. There are few signs that millions of new homebuyers are going to appear, meaning this problem may be with us for some time.
FROM THE PATRIOT POST
Apparently, the federal government is reserving for itself the right to harass, grope and fondle the American flying public. The Screening Partnership Program, which allowed airports to hire private contractors who worked under TSA oversight rather than using Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screeners, is being stopped just a month after the TSA said its position on the program was "neutral." Last Friday, TSA chief John Pistole announced that he didn't see any advantage to the program and so will not expand it, although the 16 airports that currently use the program will be allowed to continue.
The "opt out" program started making headlines in December after the TSA sprung its strip search machines and "enhanced pat down" procedures, or "sexual assault" if done by anyone else, on an unsuspecting public. Rep. John Mica (R-FL) encouraged the opt-out program, saying private contractors are more responsive to the public than impossible-to-fire federal employees. At the time, the TSA didn't oppose the program, with a spokesman saying, "If airports choose this route, we are going to work with them to do it."
When told of the new TSA stance, Mica indicated he would launch an investigation, saying, "It's unimaginable that TSA would suspend the most successfully performing passenger screening program we've had over the last decade. The agency should concentrate on cutting some of the more than 3,700 administrative personnel in Washington who concocted this decision, and reduce the army of TSA employees that has ballooned to more than 62,000." No doubt preserving that bloated 62,000 number is one of the reasons the TSA made this move.
Senate Report on Fort Hood
"A new Senate report on the 2009 Fort Hood shooting blames the FBI and Department of Defense for failing to recognize or act on alleged shooter Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan's extremist views," ABC News reports. It took a Senate report to figure that out? The report said, "DOD possessed compelling evidence that Hasan embraced views so extreme that it should have disciplined him or discharged him from the military, but DOD failed to take action against him." Now, if Hasan had been associated with the Tea Party rather than Islamic jihad...
News of the Bizarre
A "Black Widow" suicide bomber planned an attack in Moscow on New Year's Eve and her night ended with a bang -- just not the one she expected. According to Russian authorities, the woman received an unexpected text message on her cell phone, which caused her suicide belt to detonate prematurely, killing her in the privacy of her safe house. No one else was injured. Around here, we call that a "self-solver." By the way, the text was a spam message from her phone service provider wishing her a Happy New Year.
Those who believe that justice wasn't quite served in the 2008 Black Panther voter intimidation case were right according to panelists sitting on the U.S. Commission for Civil Rights. A synopsis of their conclusions was released earlier this week, and the key finding was that the case was "meritorious on the law and the facts." Commission member Todd Gaziano notes, "Three eyewitnesses ... provided powerful and convincing testimony that the former defendants had engaged in intimidating conduct, and that voters had turned away from the polling place rather than walk within a billy-club swing of the entrance." Sounds pretty open-and-shut to us.
Other remarks by commissioners about the performance of the Department of Justice were nearly as damning, including the administration's reticence to enforce the purging of voter rolls as states are mandated by existing law. On the other hand, Democrat appointees to the civil rights body excused the department's actions, blind to the impact it could have on future elections. With the prospect of Republican oversight, at least in the House of Representatives, flouting the law by selective prosecution may become vastly more difficult.
Unfortunately, justice delayed is truly justice denied in this case. A voter intimidated on Election Day doesn't get a second chance to cast a ballot. Of course, holding on to power by any means possible will certainly be the objective of Obama and his allies next year.
National SecurityWarfront With Jihadistan: Egyptian Uprising
It has been an extraordinary few weeks in the Middle East, to put it mildly. First, following riots by protesters demanding "freedom," Tunisia's President Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali was forced to flee the country after 23 years in power. Two weeks later came the biggest bombshell, as hundreds of thousands of Egyptians took to the streets, demanding the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, who has ruled Egypt under "emergency" law since 1981.
The hated Egyptian security forces showed up to quash the protesters but were themselves brushed aside by crowds that wouldn't back down. Next came the Egyptian Army, which had it in its power to gun down as many protesters as needed to restore order, but chose instead to do nothing. After arriving at key locations around Cairo, the Army made no attempt to suppress the protesters, even mingling with them for pictures and joyous conversation in some places. Finally, thousands of Yemenis openly protested their repressive government, demanding the ouster of 30-year President Ali Abdullah Saleh and his notoriously corrupt regime.
Why, after so many years suffering under the iron fist of their rulers, have these Arab populations finally had enough? Why were Iranians willing to take on the regime's security forces in 2009, following yet another rigged election, when so many previous rigged elections had gone by with hardly a notice?
There are doubtless different reasons for each nation that has recently experienced a popular uprising, but one common factor has had some influence on each of them: that of watching Iraqis slowly but resolutely building a truly democratic nation for themselves. Arabs in the region no doubt began to ask why they should live under tyranny when their neighbors in Iraq are free. Iranian Shia began to ask why they should live under a medieval clerical regime when their Iraqi Shia neighbors are free. Persians and Arabs, Sunni and Shia, all are human beings who share the same desire for liberty, and Iraq is proving that such a life is possible even where repressive tyranny has been the norm for generations. Contrary to the thinking of those on the Left, might there have been something to the Middle East "domino principle" that George W. Bush and his administration put forth in the run-up to the Iraq War?
This is not to say that the outcome in Egypt or Tunisia is sure to be a good democratic government. Palestinians were allowed free elections and chose Hamas, a Muslim mafia more devoted to destroying Israel than to building a Palestinian state. In Egypt, along with the usual entrenched interests and cronies in any dictatorship, there is the extremist Muslim Brotherhood of which Hamas is an offshoot. While Egypt's security services have succeeded in largely driving the Brotherhood underground, it is still a powerful force there, and, like Hamas, it's more interested in killing Israelis than in raising Egyptians. If allowed to hijack Egypt's transition from Mubarak to a new government, another Arab-Israeli war could follow. Celebrate the imminent ouster of a dictator in Egypt -- but be very attentive to what comes next.
Government & PoliticsA Major Victory Against ObamaCare
ObamaCare ruled unconstitutionalIf you watch only the network evening news, you might not have heard that on Monday, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled the obvious: ObamaCare violates the Constitution. Twenty-six states had filed suit over the law, specifically arguing that the mandate that individuals purchase health insurance violates the Constitution by granting Congress too much power under the Commerce Clause. Vinson, a Reagan appointee, agreed and struck down the entire law.
"Never before has Congress required everyone buy a product from a private company (essentially for life) just for being alive and residing in the United States," wrote Judge Vinson. "It is difficult to imagine that a nation which began, at least in part, as the result of opposition to a British mandate giving the East India Company a monopoly and imposing a nominal tax on all tea sold in America would have set out to create a government with the power to force people to buy tea in the first place. ... Surely this is not what the Founding Fathers could have intended."
There is little doubt the Founders purposefully denied the Legislative Branch such broad powers, but leftists have long asserted that Congress can do whatever a majority votes to do. When asked about the constitutionality of ObamaCare, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) snorted, "Are you serious? Are you serious?" She is now the minority leader.
Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) was similarly smug when congressional power was questioned, explaining, "I think that there are very few constitutional limits that would prevent the federal government from rules that could affect your private life." He continued, "The federal government, uh, yes, can do most anything in this country."
Judge Vinson's ruling was a strong rebuke to such thinking. Notably, he struck down the law in its entirety because the individual mandate didn't include a severability clause, which would have allowed the removal of the provision while leaving the rest of the law intact. Even the Obama administration argued that the individual mandate is so integral to the legislation that the law would be impotent without it.
Vinson wrote, "Regardless of how laudable its attempts may have been to accomplish these goals [of universal health care] in passing the [Affordable Care] Act, Congress must operate within the bounds established by the Constitution." He added, "[T]his case is not about whether the Act is wise or unwise legislation, or whether it will solve or exacerbate the myriad problems in our health care system. In fact, it is not really about our health care system at all. It is principally about our federalist system, and it raises very important issues regarding the constitutional role of the federal government."
As Jonathan Turley, a constitutional law professor at George Washington University, observed, "This case could define federalism for the next 100 years. If the Obama administration prevails in its view, it's hard to see what's left of federalism."
Typical of its disdain for Rule of Law, an administration official called the originalist ruling "odd and unconventional," and the White House promised to continue implementation of the law, despite its being ruled unconstitutional. Several states aren't waiting around, however. Many are ceasing efforts to comply with the mandates and regulations of the law. Virginia is asking the Supreme Court to expedite its hearings on the law.
In Congress, Senate Republicans tried but failed in a vote for full repeal, 47-51. They did succeed, however, in once again putting all Senate Democrats on record as supporting ObamaCare, a status that will no doubt plague many of those who are up for re-election in 2012. In addition, Senate Republicans succeeded, 81-17, in repealing the onerous requirement that businesses file 1099s for goods purchased from vendors that total $600 or more in a year. That mandate would have been a back-breaker for small businesses. Sens. John Barrasso (R-WY) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) also introduced legislation allowing states to opt out of any part of ObamaCare.
At the risk of "inciting violence" with fighting metaphors, we hope the continued onslaught against ObamaCare continues to see success, and that this battle to preserve Essential Liberty will eventually be won.
Dear Friend of Liberty,
I hope you join me in my firm conviction that now is the time to fight back against the out of control Federal Reserve and continued Wall Street plundering of our tax dollars.
The threat isn’t hard to see -- just look all around us. Our constitutional principles and freedoms are being assaulted at every turn. More bailouts, trillion dollar “stimulus” plans, huge new debt burdens for our children, simply printing money to cover our failed policies -- I could go on and on. You and I both know that President Obama is going to keep going and going unless someone puts a stop to the madness.
But the good news is there is a way to fight back. And that fight starts today -- by “Auditing the Fed” and showing the American people just how the Fed has abused its power, debauched the dollar, and helped strangle our economy.
Because I know you are a friend in Liberty, I wanted you to be among the first people contacted by Campaign for Liberty for the vital fight against the out of control Federal Reserve.
Please read the enclosed letter from my friend and Campaign for Liberty’s President, John Tate. John isn’t just a friend of mine. He’s also a patriot with years of experience getting things done in politics. Now he’s agreed to take up the fight in a way I cannot -- by leading the fight for Liberty on the outside, while I do battle in the halls of Congress.
I trust you’ll find this battle to expose the out of control Fed worth your support.
For Liberty,
Congressman Ron Paul
Dear Friend of Liberty,
The American people have spoken. In one fell swoop, they have sent packing scores of politicians who carried the water for the Fed's "pump priming."
Trillions of Dollars were printed, and no one has any idea where they went.
But the election was just the first step towards you and me putting a stop to it all.
With your help (including submitting the petition linked below to your Congressman and Senators) today, Representative Ron Paul, Senator Jim DeMint and Campaign for Liberty are ready to fight back, by taking the battle straight to the heart of the problem – by forcing a 100% public audit of the Federal Reserve itself.
The massive, outrageous amount of dollars committed to the economic bailouts totals:
More than the socialist New Deal ... More than the entire Iraq War ... More than the 1980’s savings and loan mess ... More than the Korean War ...
COMBINED.
When will it all end?
It’s time you and I put a stop to the out of control Federal Reserve. And Ron Paul's Audit the Fed Bill will do just that.
The election results have the politicians in Washington running scared! They saw their colleagues sent packing and the survivors don't want to be next.
Now is the time to turn up the heat on all members of Congress to support Audit the Fed. That’s why it’s vital you click here to submit your “Audit the Fed” petition in support of Congressman Paul’s bill.
If you and I don’t act today, I’m afraid this crisis will end with the economic ruin of every man, woman and child in America.
Today, nearly 13 TRILLION in taxpayer dollars in bailouts and loans has been agreed to by Congress, the Bush and Obama Treasury Departments, and the out of control Fed.
So is it really any wonder more and more folks are starting to realize the Washington, D.C. establishment is hurtling us toward complete economic disaster?
Whether it’s watching a phony “stimulus” package get rammed into law or watching Congress pass a $700 BILLION bank “bailout” under threat of martial law, the American people are agitated and increasingly angry.
That means it’s a perfect time to unleash the pressure of MILLIONS of outraged Americans on the out of control Fed!
So please click here to sign the petition linked below urging your Congressman and Senators to cosponsor and seek roll call votes to pass the Audit the Fed Bill!
As I know you’re aware, the Federal Reserve is shrouded in secrecy. Their meetings are off-limits to the public. Their inner workings are off-limits to the public.
And just recently, the Federal Reserve announced they are purchasing $600 billion in government bonds to pump even more "stimulus" into the economy!
$600 billion in money that does not exist, to buy bonds for spending we cannot afford.
It's more vital than ever we know what they are up to and who they are funneling money to.
They know coming clean with Congress and the American people on how they doled out that two TRILLION dollars would result in an anti-Fed firestorm.
So can you imagine the impact of a full-scale audit? You and I will finally be able to show the American people that the Federal Reserve System leads to:
*** Constant economic crises -- the housing crisis and the resulting chaos is just one example of an economic bubble created by centrally-planned interest rates and money manipulation;
*** The destruction of the middle class -- as fuel, food, housing, medical care and education costs soar, everyone who is NOT on the government dole is forced to make do with less as the value of their money slowly decreases;
*** Currency destruction -- history shows us that riots, violence and full-scale police states can result when people finally realize our money isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on and REFUSE to accept it.
And unless you and I do end the madness in Washington, D.C., we may be closer than we’d like to think to learning that history lesson firsthand -- right here in our own streets.
That’s why your commitment to helping pass the Audit the Fed Bill –- and helping Campaign for Liberty fight this battle -- is so vital.
Just a few months ago, there was no chance of passing any legislation like the Audit the Fed Bill. So I guess there has been one “CHANGE.”
The American public was fed up with bailouts and "stimulus" and an out of control fed and fired politicians who backed the fed's economy-wrecking policies.
They are demanding Congress audit the Federal Reserve to account for the trillions stolen from the U.S. taxpayers?
It's up to you and to hold the politicians feet to the fire and send a clear message that anyone who does not support auditing the Fed will be out of a job -- in fact, 39 opponents of Audit the Fed were defeated in November.
You and I must be ready to fight.
And, it's both a bill we CAN pass Audit the Fed, and it's vital we expose the massive corruption and dollar manipulation at the Federal Reserve.
You see, after regulating, taxing, spending, borrowing and printing us into what is the worst recession in decades, establishment politicians and power brokers are assuring us they’re working hard to “fix” our economic woes. What is their solution? You guessed it. More of the same!
If you thought this november was a "shellacking," imagine what the next election will be like when you and I tell the American people their Congressman ignored their demands for accountability for the Fed ruining our economy?
Now we just need to show the new Congress the American people haven't let their guard down and that they demand action on the Audit the Fed Bill. Here’s how we plan to do that.
First, we’re already busy contacting up to five million activists nationwide through mail, phones and email to generate petitions to the U.S. Congress demanding action on Ron Paul's Audit the Fed Bill.
But that’s just the beginning. We’ll work the talk radio stations and grant local media interviews to ratchet up the pressure even further on Congress.
And a few days before the vote, if we have the resources, we’d also like to run hard-hitting targeted radio, TV and newspaper ads.
This entire program is designed to send this one, CLEAR message to Congress: Any politician who votes against the Federal Reserve Audit should look for another job.
But such a massive effort won’t be easy -- or cheap.
So in addition to submitting your petition, I also hope you’ll agree to chip in a contribution of $10, $25 or even $50 to Campaign for Liberty.
Every dollar will help, and every dollar will go to this vital fight.
I know times are hard, but if we don’t take action, the America we see in just a few years could look far worse than even the one we see today.
Can I count on you to join the fight to AUDIT THE FED by clicking here to sign the petition, and by chipping in a generous contribution of $10, $25, $50 -- or whatever you can afford -- to Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty?
Sincerely,
John F. Tate
President
P.S. Please submit the petition urging your Congressman and Senators to cosponsor and seek roll call votes on Rep. Ron Paul's Audit the Fed Bill TODAY!
What Liberals Don't Know About Guns, Chapter 217
Ann Coulter
Columnist's Archive Share Buzz 0diggsdigg
Sign-Up Fresh off of blaming Jared Loughner's killing spree in the Tucson mall on Sarah Palin, liberals are now blaming it on high-capacity magazines. They might as well imprison everyone named "Jared" to prevent a crime like this from ever happening again.
During the presidential campaign, Obama said: "I don't know of any self-respecting hunter that needs 19 rounds of anything. You don't shoot 19 rounds at a deer, and if you do, you shouldn't be hunting." It would have been more accurate for him to end that sentence after the word "hunter."
It's so adorable when people who wouldn't know a high-capacity magazine from Vanity Fair start telling gun owners what they should want and need.
In fact, high-capacity mags put a predator like Loughner at a disadvantage because they are so long, unwieldy and difficult to conceal. This may be why the Tucson shooting appears to be the first spree killing involving a high-capacity magazine. It would have been easier for Loughner to bring two guns.
On the other hand, for a homeowner who is a poor marksman, a large-capacity clip could be a lifesaver.
But after every multiple murder, liberals come up with some crackpot idea to "do something" that invariably involves infringing on some aspect of our Second Amendment rights.
The ACLU won't let us put nuts in mental hospitals and Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik wouldn't lock up Loughner even after he had broken the law several times.
In an open society that includes Sheriff Dumbnik and the ACLU, deranged individuals may explode into murder and mayhem now and then. The best we can do is enact policies that will reduce the death toll when these acts of carnage occur.
There's only one policy of any kind that has ever been shown to deter mass murder: concealed-carry laws. In a comprehensive study of all public, multiple-shooting incidents in America between 1977 and 1999, the highly regarded economists John Lott and Bill Landes found that concealed-carry laws were the only laws that had any beneficial effect.
And the effect was not small. States that allowed citizens to carry concealed handguns reduced multiple-shooting attacks by 60 percent and reduced the death and injury from these attacks by nearly 80 percent.
When there are no armed citizens to stop mass murderers, the killers are able to shoot unabated, even pausing to reload their weapons, until they get bored and stop. Some stop only when their trigger fingers develop carpal tunnel syndrome.
Consider just the school shootings -- popular sites for mass murder because so many schools are "gun-free zones." Or, as mass murderers call them, "free-fire zones."
At Columbine High School, two students killed 12 people before ending the carnage themselves by committing suicide. They didn't need high-capacity magazines because they were able to stop and reload.
At the Amish school shooting in 2006 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the deranged killer murdered five little girls and then committed suicide.
In 1998, two students in Craighead County, Arkansas, killed five people, including four little girls, before the killers decided to stop and attempt an escape.
And in 2007, a deranged student killed 32 people at Virginia Tech -- 30 of them in a very short period of time in one building. He didn't need high-capacity magazines because he had two guns and reloaded.
There was no one to stop him.
School shootings that have been halted were almost always stopped by the happenstance of an armed citizen on school property.
In 2002, an immigrant in Virginia started shooting his classmates at the Appalachian Law School in Grundy. Two of his classmates retrieved guns from their cars, forcing the killer to drop his weapon and allowing a third classmate to tackle him.
Three dead.
In Santee, Calif., in 2001, when a student began shooting his classmates, the school activated its "safe school plan" -- as the principal later told CNN -- by sending a "trained campus supervisor" to stop the killer.
Possibly not realizing that he was in a gun-free zone, the killer responded by shooting the trained campus supervisor three times. Fortunately, an armed off-duty San Diego policeman happened to be bringing his daughter to school that day. With a gun, he stopped the killer and held him at bay until more police could arrive.
Two dead.
In 1997, a student at Pearl High School in Pearl, Miss., had already shot several people at his high school and was headed for the junior high school when assistant principal Joel Myrick retrieved a .45 pistol from his car and pointed it at the gunman's head, ending the slaughter.
Two dead.
In 1998, a student attending a junior high school dance at a restaurant in Edinboro, Pa., started shooting, whereupon the restaurant owner pulled out his shotgun, chased the gunman from the restaurant and captured him for the police.
One dead.
See the pattern?
In response to Columbine, schools adopted "anti-bullying" policies; in response to Virginia Tech, eBay ceased selling magazines online; in response to the Tucson shooting, liberals want to ban the particular magazine Loughner used.
And then the next killer will come along with a different arsenal and a different motive, and the only way to stop him will be with an armed citizen with a gun.
Why did Obama legitimize terrorist rule of Egypt?
A few weeks ago, the Obama Administration very publicly warned against a Lebanese government controlled by the terrorist militia Hizballah. Whether or not Washington carries through on its threats now that Hizballah has in fact installed its man as prime minister remains to be seen.
But in Egypt, US President Barack Obama appears to be taking a totally contradictory approach. On Monday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs legitimized future control of Egypt by radical Islamists when he said the next government in Cairo will have to include “important non-secular actors.”
Of course, the only significant non-secular actor on the Egyptian stage is the Muslim Brotherhood, and it is not only “non-secular,” but is in effect the godfather of Middle East Islamic extremism.
Gibbs tried to qualify his remarks by stating that the US will want those future rulers of Egypt to reject violence and recognize democratic values, but few are still naive enough to believe Washington will stop treating with Cairo if the Brotherhood takes over and maintains its current goals.
The Muslim Brotherhood that the White House accepts as the possible future power broker in Cairo is the forerunner of groups like Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, and counts among its former members Ayman al-Zawahiri, Al Qaeda’s second in command.
The group has previously vowed to annul the peace treaty with Israel if it ever came to power, and would be expected to severely curtail the freedoms of Egyptian Christians. The Muslim Brotherhood lists as one of its goals the total subjugation of the entire world to Islam and the establishment of an Islamic empire.
Is the world's largest super-volcano set to erupt, wiping out two-thirds of the U.S.?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The super-volcano beneath Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming has been rising at a record rate since 2004
It would explode with a force a thousand times more powerful than the Mount St Helens eruption in 1980.
Spewing lava far into the sky, a cloud of plant-killing ash would fan out and dump a layer 10ft deep up to 1,000 miles away.
Two-thirds of the U.S. could become uninhabitable as toxic air sweeps through it, grounding thousands of flights and forcing millions to leave their homes.
This is the nightmare that scientists are predicting could happen if the world’s largest super-volcano erupts, as it could do in the near future.
Yellowstone National Park’s caldera is believed to have has erupted three times in the past and researchers monitoring it say we could be in for another eruption.
They said that the super-volcano underneath the Wyoming park has been rising at a record rate since 2004 - its floor has gone up three inches per year for the last three years alone, the fastest rate since records began in 1923.
But hampered by a lack of data they have stopped short of an all-out warning and they are unable to put a date on when the next disaster might take place.
When the eruption finally happens it will dwarf the effect of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano, which erupted in April last year, causing travel chaos around the world.
The University of Utah's Bob Smith, an expert in Yellowstone's volcanism told National Geographic: ‘It's an extraordinary uplift, because it covers such a large area and the rates are so high.
But he added: ‘Once we saw the magma was at a depth of ten kilometres, we weren't so concerned.
‘If it had been at depths of two or three kilometre we'd have been a lot more concerned.’
Robert B. Smith, professor of geophysics at the University of Utah, who has led a recent study into the volcano, added: ‘Our best evidence is that the crustal magma chamber is filling with molten rock.
‘But we have no idea how long this process goes on before there either is an eruption or the inflow of molten rock stops and the caldera deflates again’.
The Yellowstone Caldera is one of nature’s most awesome creations and sits atop North America’s largest volcanic field.
Its name means ‘cooking pot’ or ‘cauldron’ and it is formed when land collapses following a volcanic explosion.
In Yellowstone, some 400 miles beneath the Earth’s surface is a magma ‘hotspot’ which rises to 30 miles underground before spreading out over an area of 300 miles across.
Atop this, but still beneath the surface, sits the slumbering volcano.
Scientists monitoring it believe that a swelling magma reservoir six miles underground may be causing the recent uplifts.
They have also been keeping an eye on a ‘pancake-shaped blob’ of molten rock he size of Los Angeles which was pressed into the volcano some time ago.
But due the extreme conditions it has been hard to work out what exactly is going on down below, leading researchers unable to say with certainty what will happen - or when.
Since the most recent large blast there have been around 30 smaller eruptions.
They filled the caldera with ash and lava and made the flat landscape that draws thousands of tourists to Yellowstone National Park every year.
‘Clearly some deep source of magma feeds Yellowstone, and since Yellowstone has erupted in the recent geological past, we know that there is magma at shallower depths too,’ said Dan Dzurisin, a Yellowstone expert with the U.S. Geological Survey at Cascades Volcano Observatory in Washington State.
‘There has to be magma in the crust, or we wouldn't have all the hydrothermal activity that we have.
‘There is so much heat coming out of Yellowstone right now that if it wasn't being reheated by magma, the whole system would have gone stone cold since the time of the last eruption’
Seismic fault beneath us is ‘fully loaded’ after 311 years
http://heraldnet.com/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As if you didn’t have enough worries, here is one more to add to that massive list:
“It’s been 300 years,” Bill Steele said Tuesday. “We have a fully loaded subduction zone.”
Actually, it’s been 311 years since the Great Cascadia Earthquake of 1700.
Steele, a University of Washington seismologist and spokesman for the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, said scientists have determined the monster quake occurred Jan. 26, 1700 — 311 years ago tonight.
It happened off the Northwest coast, and created huge tsunamis that devastated shorelines here and in Japan.
What’s amazing is how much is known, considering that in 1700 there were no Europeans in the Northwest. British Capt. George Vancouver wouldn’t find his way here until 1792. The Lewis and Clark Expedition to the West didn’t start until 1804. Historians have no original account of the 1700 quake written from a Western perspective.
“There’s quite a detective story of how we know all that. It’s fantastic,” Steele said.
First, a quick explanation of what happened from the online encyclopedia HistoryLink:
“The earthquake ruptured what is known as the Cascadia subduction zone — the area of overlap between two of the tectonic plates that make up the Earth’s surface, the Juan de Fuca plate and the North American plate.” The 2003 HistoryLink essay by Greg Lange, citing scientists who studied the quake, said the event dropped the whole Pacific Northwest coastline 3 to 6 feet, and that the tsunami was as high as 33 feet.
Knowledge of all that comes from both recent science and long-ago legends and tales of American Indians. Ruth Ludwin, a former University of Washington geophysics professor, has studied and published evidence of the quake found in native lore, Steele said.
“There are a large number of Native American legends and tales of meadows reclaimed by the sea, of great shaking and landslides, and of whole villages wiped out with canoes found in the trees,” he said. “It may have killed tens of thousands of people, but there is no written record of that.”
Scientific evidence of the 1700 earthquake comes from Dr. Brian Atwater of the U.S. Geological Survey, Japan’s Kenji Satake and other researchers. Their work identifying “ghost forests” and an “orphan tsunami” is no less compelling than the Native legends.
“Brian Atwater uncovered a layer cake of soils,” Steele said. At Willapa Bay on the southwest Washington coast, he said, there are five layers where scientists see transitions from marshy tidal estuary to woody soil, indicating trees, all covered by layers of sand and bay mud.
The layers show places where land levels rapidly changed. And studies of the roots of trees in what Steele called “ghost forests” showed that trees died between the growing season of 1699 and before their sap would have come in 1700.
Steele said Kenji Satake, of the Geological Survey of Japan, found records of samurai lords, who kept track of rice harvests. Those detailed records, Steele said, showed that an “orphan tsunami” — a giant wave without any shaking in the area — hit the coast of Japan on Jan. 27, 1700. “It did kill a number of people in Japan,” Steele said.
By working with those records and wave speed, he said, scientists determined that the quake hit the Northwest coast about 9 p.m. Jan. 26, 1700.
“It’s quite a marvelous story, what happened and the impact. No one wrote about it in the West,” he said.
It’s fascinating, but frightening, too.
Steele said it takes hundreds of years to build up the strain that causes a subduction zone earthquake. “The toe of North America, the edge, is being shoved downward. It’s like bending a ruler back,” he said, adding that the 1700 quake was the last one known to have occurred on the Cascadia subduction zone.
Remember — it’s “fully loaded.”
“It could produce another one tomorrow, or maybe a century or more away,” Steele said. “Certainly geologically, in the not too distant future we’re going to have another one.”
Steele is all for being prepared — whether it’s keeping supplies on hand at home, making sure homes and public buildings are up to withstanding big quakes, or assuring that people who live on the coast have evacuation routes.
It takes money, and recognizing the risks.
