Covenant Sanctuary & Sacrifice

Covenant's Sanctuary & Sacrifice

Old Covenant -
Death - Law
New Covenant -
Life - Forgiveness of Sins.

Jesus Christ death shows us the Superiority of the New Covenant over the Old Covenant. The old Covenant cannot deliver us from sins.

Hebrews 10:19 - 13:25

Hebrews 9:1-10 OLD COVENANT

Sanctuary - Hebrews 9:1-5
1) Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service & the earthly sanctuary.
2) For a tabernacle was prepared; the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, & the show bread, which is called the sanctuary;
3) and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All,
4) which had the golden alter of incense & the ark of the covenant overlaid on all that had the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, & the tablets of the covenant;
5) and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
Sacrifice - Hebrews 9:6-10
6) Now when these things had been thus prepared, the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services.
7) But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood which he offered for himself & for the people's sins committed in ignorance;
8) the Holy Spirit indication this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing.
9) It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts & sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience--
10) concerned only with foods & drinks, various washings, & fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.

As under the Old Covenant death is brought about. Jesus Christ brought the New Covenant with His death & the omnipotent resurrection power that raised Him from the dead.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

Romans 7:8
But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.

Romans 7:10 -11
10) And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death.
11) For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me & by it killed me.

Now the resurrection power has an endless life, that is a promise. Jesus teaches & prepares us to understand the change in our life.

Romans 6:4
Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into to death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Before a heir can get his inheritance; the proprietorship (the old life) must entirely disappears & the new heir (new life) can receive or enter into that inheritance. So death has to happen before the heir can receive their inheritance.
Hebrews 9:16
For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Hebrews 9:11 - 28 New Covenant

Sanctuary - Hebrews 9:11
But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater & more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.
Sacrifice Hebrews 9:12-18
12) Not with the blood of goats & calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
13) For if the blood of bulls & goats & the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh,
14) how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15) And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgression under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
16) For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17) For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testators lives.
18) Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood
Hebrews 9:20 - 22
20) saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you,"
21) Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle & all the vessels of the ministry.
22) And according to the law almost all things are purged with blood, & without shedding of blood there is no remission.
read the rest of Hebrews 9:

So without shedding of the blood there isn't remission of sin.
We have been made dead to the law by the shedding of Jesus Christ blood. With His blood we have been released from the law

Romans 7:6
But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit & not in the oldness of the letter.
