Is this all true? I don't really know for sure but at this point from all that I have learned so far I can believe it. Things like this are unreal. They haven't gotten the message. Both Obama and his wife seem like they are on the ride of their lives and they are not going to miss a thing, and so far they haven't. He flys that big ass airplane and all the other stuff that has to go with or follow him all over this globe without a though of its cost to us. This just does not sound right nor does it feel right. Remember way back at the begining of his campaign when she said (I can't remember it word for word) that she didn't even like this country? I think she has now fallen in love with it now. Alan

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties, but this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession.
Just think, Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War, and Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary from her husband's salary.
