EMBLEMS OF THE SPIRIT

EMBLEMS: from Webster Dictionary
GK emblemat, emblema, fr.emballein -- to insert.
1) a picture with a motto or set of verses intended as a moral lesson.
2) an object or the figure of an object symbolizing, & suggesting another object or idea,
3) a - a symbol object used as a heraldic device.
b - a device, symbol, or figure adopted & used as an identifying mark.

Our emblems of the United States would be the American Flag, red - white - blue, Statue of Liberty, or an apple pie. As Christians our emblem is the Christian flag, the empty cross, communion.

The Holy Spirit emblems would be:

1 Corinthians 10:1 - 4
1) Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea.
2) all were baptized into Moses in the cloud & in the sea,
3) all ate the same spiritual food,
4) And all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, & that Rock was Christ.

Exodus 17:6
"Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; & you shall strike the rock, & water will come out of it, that the people may drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

WATER -
is cleansing, fertilizing, refreshing, abundant; & freely given.
The Spirit of God is the same.

Acts 2:1 & 3-4
1) Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
3) Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, & one sat upon each of them.
4) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit & began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

FIRE -
which is purifying, illumination, searching our hearts

Psalm 139:23
Search me, O God, & know my heart; Try me, & know my anxieties

Acts 2:2
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, & it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

WIND -
independent, powerful, perceptible in its effects reviving.

Psalm 72:6 - 7
6) He shall come down like rain upon the mow grass. Like showers that water the earth.
7) In His days the righteous shall flourish, And abundance of peace. Until the moon is no more.

Hosea 14:5 - 7
5) I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon.
6) His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon
7) :Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like the vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon.

RAIN & DEW -
fertilizing, refreshing, abundant

Luke 3:22
And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, & a voice came from heaven which said,
"You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.

DOVE - gentle

Galatians 5:22 - 23
22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, faithfulness,
23) gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

LAMB -
gentle, meek, innocent a sacrifice

The Holy Spirit is gentle, innocent, meek, loving, & wants to take His possession of our hearts. You have never seen the wrath of the Holy Spirit. You have of God & you have of Jesus. Not the wrath of the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 6:16
16) and said to the mountains & rocks, Fall on us & hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne & from the wrath of the LAMB
17) "For the great day of His wrath has come, & is able to stand.

Luke 3:22

2 Peter 1:17 & 18

A VOICE -
speaking, guiding, warning, teaching & as a seal.

Ephesians 1:13
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the truth, the gospel of your salvation; in who also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

The Holy Spirit is impressing, security & He makes us His own.

Jesus identified the Holy Spirit with

John 6:63
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The word that speak to you are spirit, & they are life.

1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

The Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. We must look to God not man. If we look to the Spirit of God & expect to come from Him, we will honor the Spirit & the Spirits work.

John 14:16 - 17
16) "And I will pray the Father, & He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.
17) "even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you & will be in you.

HELPER / COMFORTER:
loving, security from God, power
