California school district adopts Bible course
Becky Yeh - OneNewsNow California correspondent - 7/6/2010 5:45:00 AMA California school district has decided in a 5-0 vote to adopt a Bible course that will be available to students in the upcoming school year.

Beginning this fall, high school seniors of the Chino Valley School District will have the chance to enroll in a new course called "Bible as/in Literature and History."

Envisioned by the board's Vice President James Na, the class will focus on giving students an understanding of the Bible's influence in history, literature, religion and politics. It will offer a survey of the Bible, beginning with the historical context of the Old Testament, and then will focus on the New Testament later in the semester. It will also provide students with a historical knowledge of the Middle East.

Students may take the course as an elective, fulfilling the general requirement for admission into California State University and the University of California.

Fred Youngblood, president of the Board of Education, believes the course will better equip students in life, and he hopes other school districts will offer a similar class.

"It is my belief that better understanding the Bible will help all students with their decision-making process," he explains.

The class stems from parents in the district who showed an interest in having the Bible taught in the public school system. The committee considered the comments and began to research how the district could meet the request.

The Chino Valley Board of Education must make sure that the course will adhere to the state education code and to California state laws, so it will remain neutral in its religious teachings and will portray the Bible as a monumental piece of literature.

Youngblood is in the process of securing a textbook that will provide the basis of the course's curriculum.

"The preface of the textbook...states, 'The Bible has been and still is one of the most influential books ever published. Its influence is seen in literature, art, music, culture, public policy and public debate,'" the board president reports.

He believes the Bible will make a helpful impact in the lives of the students.

"The Bible has been a part of my life ever since I could remember. It has had a very positive influence on me and my family," Youngblood shares. "It is my hope that our students will have a better understanding of the impact the Bible has had on all that surrounds us."

PSALM 5 from 1611 kjv

005:001 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
005:002 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
005:003 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
005:004 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
005:005 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
005:006 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
005:007 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
005:008 Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
005:009 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
005:010 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
005:011 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
005:012 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

SHERIFF JOE - HOW TO RUN PRISONS

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!
>
> You all remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona , who painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb. Well.........
> SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!
>
>
> Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!
>
> Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said OK.
>
> The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behaviour. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them placed in dog shows.
>
> The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.
>
> The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.
>
> I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.
>
> He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the holidays, and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the Prison.
>
> Yup, he was re-elected last year with 83% of the vote.
>
> Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff.
>
> TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:
>
> Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona ), who created the 'Tent City Jail': he has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.
>
> He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but 'G' rated movies.
>
> He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.
>
> Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.
>
> He took away cable TV until he found out there was a Federal Court Order that required cable TV for jails so he hooked up the cable TV again; only let in the Disney Channel and the Weather Channel.
>
> When asked why the Weather Channel he replied, “So they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my Chain Gangs.”
>
> He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value. When the inmates complained, he told them “This isn't the Ritz/Carlton......if you don't like it, don't come back!”
>
> More On The Arizona Sheriff:
>
> With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.
>
> On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before.
>
> Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their PINK SOCKS.
>
> “It feels like we are in a furnace”, said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the TENTS for 1 year. “It's Inhumane.”
>
> Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic. He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: “It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your mouths!”
>
> Way to go, Sheriff!
>
> Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers’ money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

I agree with this! This is the way it should be. Why should taxpayers pay for somebody who has commited a crime to live like a king or queen??? I also agree with our soldiers going through the same thing.

COMCAST'S

Comcast's porn revenue of public interest
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 7/4/2010 4:25:00 AMSeveral Christian groups are asking that Comcast's pornography business be taken into consideration in a proposed merger with NBC.

Dan Isett, director of public policy at the Parents Television Council (PTC), argues that since the airwaves are public, broadcasters have to go through a character check when they apply for a license.

"So the question on the table is whether or not Comcast, as one of the largest distributors of pornography in the country, fits that definition in order to pass the character definition to get a broadcast license from the [Federal Communications Commission]," Isett points out.

Broadcasters are licensed to serve the public, so that raises the question of how Comcast can do that when it is deeply imbedded in the pornography business.

"Comcast doesn't make publicly available the amount of money that it generates from the distribution of pornographic and other adult-related materials, so one of the things we've asked the FCC to require before this merger goes through is for Comcast to disclose that so we'll have some sort of idea just how dependent they are on that revenue stream in order to make their business work," the PTC public policy director explains.

According to the PTC spokesman, the other question is whether Comcast would use NBC -- which owns stations in the nation's top markets and has affiliate stations in many cities throughout the country -- as a vehicle to distribute pornography.

JULY - CARE PACKAGES FOR OUR SOLDIERS! CARE FOR THEM

The Fort Scott Ladies Aux. VFW 1165 has designated July Shower our Soldiers month. We are gathering items to send approx. 100 boxes overseas to the soldiers. The cost of each box through the postal service is 12.95. There are many ideas for the boxes like cookies (no chocolate), small containers of chips, canned fruit and meat (no ham) with the flip top-easier in the field, health and beauty items, like tylonal, bandaids, shampoo, lip balm, wisps (waterless toothbrushes) and the like. Also local papers, magazines, puzzle books, paper, pens, all occasion cards, notes from people expressing their appreciation for their service. If you are able to assist with this project, we will be exciting to have you on board. We have several businesses and churches in the area involved in this project. You can bring items to the VFW Post in Fort Scott or the Ashcraft Memorial Library in Mapleton. If this is not a possibility because some of my buddies are out of the area-you could still assist by sending a donation for the postage or for items that we will obtain. Another option would be to get an address from me and send a box from your location-this will still count on our total. The soldiers serving for our continued freedom would appreciate the effort. Also if you have an address of a soldier serving let us know and we will get them a package-the more we provide the more they will get the encouragement to continue the job everyday. Thanks for caring and remembering those that help to keep our country safe. Linda

Israeli divestiture back on PC-USA's front burner
Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 7/2/2010 4:00:00 AM
A Protestant renewal organization is hoping that the Presbyterian Church USA will reject the recommendation of pro-Palestinian activists for the denomination to endorse a resolution calling for divestment from the Jewish state.

During its General Assembly in 2004, the Presbyterian Church USA authorized divestment from companies doing business with Israel. The move created such a backlash that in 2006 the divestment mandate was rescinded. In 2008 the denomination took a more balanced approach.

But as the 2010 General Assembly convenes July 3-10 in Minneapolis, the divestment question is back. The Presbyterian Middle East Study Committee has written a new report that levies a long list of demands against Israel, and asks the U.S. government to withhold aid "as a means of bringing Israel to compliance."

Alan Wisdom is vice president for research and programs and director of the Presbyterian Action committee at The Institute on Religion & Democracy. He says the report is very extreme.

"It criticizes Israel incessantly, and hardly has a word of criticism at all for the Palestinian Authority or Fatah or Hamas or Hezbollah or Iran or the other actors in the region that are committed to destroying Israel," he laments.

In addition, says Wisdom, it endorses a "Palestinian manifesto" that he says "basically rejects the identity of Israel as a Jewish state and calls for a single state that would soon have a Palestinian majority." That, he explains, is essentially a "recipe for submerging the Jews under a regime in which there can be no confidence that it would have respect for them."

Wisdom intends to voice support for an alternative proposal which calls for a more balanced approach to the Israel-Palestinian question.

Are these guys fools or has Islam taken over the Presbyterian Church????

GERMAN CASE ENDORSES EUTHANASIA

German case endorses euthanasia
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 7/3/2010 4:25:00 AMA German federal court's decision in one case has ultimately legalized euthanasia in that country.

Since a woman "mistakenly" followed her attorney's advice and killed her comatose mother by cutting her feeding and hydration tube, the court overturned her conviction. According to Alex Schadenberg, executive director at the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC), the Federal Court of Justice legalized euthanasia in that process.

"This is a big concern because this is a form of euthanasia: when one intentionally causes the death of another person by dehydration when they are not otherwise dying," he notes.

Wolfgang Putz, the lawyer to the victim's daughter in the case, was given a nine-month suspension sentence for his advice. The EPC executive director relates the situation to Nazi Germany, when officials decided to rid the country of disabled people.

"They dehydrated people with disabilities...and people in the psychiatric hospitals to death, and then they used the gas methods," he reports. "After they had gotten used to using the gas methods, they took that gas method of killing people with disabilities and psychiatric patients and they moved them into the death clinics, the death houses...like Dachau and all these other places."

In issuing this ruling, Schadenberg believes the Federal Court of Justice is not pushing Germany down a slippery slope toward euthanasia as an accepted practice. Instead, he feels it has taken a worse route and pushed the country over the cliff.
Head of black pastor's group angered NAACP backs pot legalization
Associated Press - 7/3/2010 4:30:00 AM
SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento preacher whose organization represents 3,600 congregations says he's outraged that the California chapter of the NAACP has endorsed a November ballot initiative that would legalize recreational use of marijuana.

Pastor Ron Allen, president of the International Faith-Based Coalition based in Sacramento, is leading opposition to the measure. He says most African-American pastors are upset by the NAACP decision because of the negative impact drugs have had on the black community.

Alice Huffman, president of the California NAACP, says the group supports Proposition 19 to counter marijuana arrest rates that she believes unfairly target blacks.
Not only the black population is affected by this. The Old, the Disable, no matter what color their skin is, the Native Americans, the un-born, the Jews, gays, obese, anybody that is un-wanted, even Christians today. People that are just different phyically & mentally different. What the politians/planned parenthood is to get rid of the useless eaters, what they feel as useless!! They tried to do this to the American Indians.

I don't believe that anybody should try to brain-washed a race, old, disable, un-born person that they are worthless. Everybody & I do mean EVERYBODY is worth that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for them; they are worth more then what Christ suffered for them!!!

As for Hitler, even the Christians looked the other way when he got rid of the Jews, the old, the disable, ones that opposed him.

I'm of the Irish & American Native back ground. Irish was lower then the slaves, slaves were property & worth more. Irish was hated & expandable.

God Bless & protect the innocent - no mater whom!!
Change the HEARTS Of the Wicked.
In Christ Jesus name: AMEN & AMEN

Standoff in NJ on family-planning funds

New Jersey's Democratic-controlled Assembly has voted to restore funds for Planned Parenthood, which Republican Governor Chris Christie previously decided to eliminate.
