U.S. Hamas fundraisers caught on camera

Russ Jones - OneNewsNow - 9/2/2010 3:50:00 AMA Florida group has caught on video an Orlando mosque in the act of raising money for a supporter of Hamas.

Investigative members of ACT Jacksonville & ACT Orlando led a video team into the Al-Rahman Mosque in Orlando and taped mosque leaders as they raised at least $55,000 for former British parliamentarian and admitted terrorist Hamas supporter, George Galloway.

Tom Trento, director of the Florida Security Council (FSC), works with a coalition of various counter-jihad groups, including an effort to oppose the construction of the "Ground Zero" mosque in New York. He says this kind of extremist activity overshadows most moderate-believing Muslims and is more prevalent than many realize.

"There are good, moderate Muslims out there. The problem is they're completely irrelevant," Trento explains. "They have no standing in the eyes of the authoritative Islamists; they have no strength, no influence, no anything. They are used as canon fodder by the Muslims."

The video has since been released to government agencies for possible violations of providing material support for terrorism.

"These mosques are absolutely raising money for Hamas. What we're doing, like with this video, we've exposed this and we've reported it to the authorities, and now we're going to let the public take a look at it," the FSC director reports. "Based upon the response that we're getting, everybody is appalled. We're starting to move public opinion on this; now the officials need to get involved."

Republican Congresswoman Sue Myrick of North Carolina, who is also founder of the anti-terrorism caucus, has requested the video be sent to the Investigative Project on Terrorism for evaluation.

The video can be viewed at NewEnglishReview.org.
